Project overview

BiftuSpark's first community library and learning hub.

A focused first initiative for reading, study, literacy, basic digital access, school-connected learning, and broader community learning in Ethiopia.

The problem

Access to learning infrastructure shapes what students can do after class.

Many communities in Ethiopia face real constraints in access to books, reading space, digital tools, and community-centered educational infrastructure. BiftuSpark sees an opportunity to build a practical shared learning space that can support children, youth, families, and local schools.

Proposed initiative

A practical education platform, not just a building.

The hub can begin with practical elements and grow through local input, donor support, and implementation partnerships.

1 Reading and study

A reliable place for independent reading, homework, and quiet learning time.

2 Children's literacy

Starter activities and materials that support reading confidence and practice.

3 School-linked learning

Programming shaped in conversation with schools and local community partners.

4 Digital access

A practical first layer of technology support for learning access.

Current focus

The immediate need is a clear first learning hub budget.

Early funding helps pay for the basics: local coordination, books and learning materials, digital access planning, practical operations, and public updates donors can follow.

First-phase uses of funds

Local consultation, partnership development, educational materials, budget and operations planning, basic digital access preparation, and public reporting.

Why this is the right first step

A library and learning hub is concrete, education-centered, easier to explain, and more realistic for focused execution than trying to run multiple program areas at once.
