About BiftuSpark

Children in Oromia are falling behind in reading. BiftuSpark exists to close that gap.

Reading Corps is the response: local tutors, level-based groups, and public results from every cycle.

Our focus

One credible first step, built on what the evidence has already established.

Most children in Oromia's government schools cannot read at grade level by Grade 3. A decade of large-scale programs - including Oromia Education Bureau partnerships - proved what works: structured Afaan Oromo instruction, community tutors, EGRA-based measurement, checked results. We deliver that approach at the community level, with a published budget and results we publish after every cycle.

Donors and partners fund one concrete initiative: assess every child, group by reading level, tutor daily, verify results, and publish what changed.

Operating principles

How we work: focused, documented, accountable.

Focused work

Reading Corps is the only program. One method, one city, one verifiable result at a time.

Plain reporting

We report confirmed work only. We document results first, then report them.

Community grounding

We design the work around local consultation and real constraints in Assela - not assumptions made from abroad.

School makes one promise first: a child should learn to read. BiftuSpark is built around that promise.
